In the eyes of Islam, 'change of garland' in marriage
Question: In the current Muslim society, the groom wears a garland to the bride and the bride wears a garland to the bride (changes the garland). I want to know whether it is permissible in the eyes of Islam.
Answer:
Although the practice of 'mala badal' is not widespread in Muslim society, it is common in some places. However, this custom is basically a Hindu marriage ritual. According to the Hindu religious tradition, the bride and groom accept each other as their life partner through the exchange of garlands.
The rules of Hindu marriage say: "As the auspicious time approaches, 4-5 males of the bride's family sit with her perfect pedi (pd). With each other ".
Eventually, the bride and groom have to face each other and the two face each other while removing the drink leaf from the front of the bride's face. This is called auspicious vision. The "Mala Badal" ceremony is completed with the sound of conch shells and "uludhvani". "(Source: Wikipedia)
It is further said, "Saaj is the main stage of marriage. In this episode, the bride and groom are greeted by going around 6 times. At the end of the wedding, the bride and groom look at each other. He tied his right hand together with a kush. " (Source: bdmorning)
This practice has nothing to do with Islam. Rather, in the eyes of Islam, with the consent of the girl's guardian, the dowry is determined and in the presence of two witnesses, the acceptance of each other as husband and wife is announced through Ijab-Kabool (proposal and acceptance).
So it is not lawful for Muslims to observe this so-called 'mala badal' practice. Otherwise it will be considered as a means of resemblance to other religions which is strictly forbidden in Islam.
Abdullah bin Umar. To be described. He said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ
